RewindRewind was born out of personal frustration over the lack of good programs to aid in learning how to play guitar. As a guitar player I make it my life mission to play songs, licks and phrases exactly like my heros. I first created the software with only my own needs in mind. I wanted to be able to slow down songs (wav, mp3), or music videos (wmv) that I had found on the internet, so I can actually figure out how to play it on the guitar "exactly" like it is. I added loop features, etc, to make the process even easier, eliminating the need to hit the rewind button over and over again. Hence the eventual name of the software.
One day, I was messing around with this software, trying to figure out a lick, when a friend said "That's so cool, you should sell it!"
I entertained the thought... for about a minute.
Basically, my views on software are as follows: Software should be free! Well that, coupled with the fact that most people find a way to get software cracks, serials, etc for free anyway! My partner Mike Crawford and I decided that we would make the software completely free!
Plus it will help with my original goal of becoming a better guitar player, and musician. What better way to learn than from other users? So as a thank you to the developers of RewindRewind please post your own lessons, or videos, and mp3s that you've found on the web. Ask questions about songs/techniques you're having trouble with, and answer people's posts in turn when you know the answers. That's the kind of user interaction that's needed to make this site a success.
Using software to learn to play the guitar has never been easier. Download the software, open your song, and forget about the rewind button. Set up custom loops of Jimi Hendrix playing Red House, and learn to play it exactly like him.
The best way to use RewindRewind to learn to play guitar is to take your existing books with accompanying CD or DVD, rip them to mp3 or WMV and slow them down until you can actually play them comfortably. The same goes for commercial Band CDs you already own! Download the free software, and slow it down. If you're still having problems, post a question on our forum, attach your mp3 (preferably just the parts you're having trouble with) and someone will help you through it! As you get comfortable at a slower speed, you can use the auto train feature to automatically speed up the problem sections so you can ease into playing them faster and faster until you're playing them at the intended speed or even faster.
